A reduction in force is no easy task, and it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve had to implement a reduction in force (RIF) and how well prepared you are, its something that will eventually happen to many of us in HR. It’s not just the event, but it’s the build up, the delivery, and the aftermath. Conducting a reduction in force can be scary business if you don’t have a plan. So let’s talk you through it.

This webinar is designed to help you prepare your managers, supervisors, and HR of the critical steps to managing a reduction in force.

What You Can Expect to Learn:

Raymond will get down to the nitty gritty when it comes to getting your management staff ready for a layoff. Whether your company is currently planning a layoff, or you’re smooth sailing, these are tools that you will eventually need.

Understanding behavioral reactions and knowing how to best deal with each outcome will dictate how each meeting goes. Raymond will present a “Behavioral Reaction Chart” to guide management on how to assess and react to each possible reaction. Preparation is how any company, their former and current employees can all come out of the other side of an RIF with a smile.

Overall management guidelines for RIF meetings will include a lot of information on communication. This is a step by step process with definite right and wrong ways of doing and saying things. Proper communications to all employees along the way can make or break an employer brand during a RIF. Raymond will cover sample manager and HR scripts. Knowing what to say, how to say it and when comes from years of experience in this industry.

The webinar will cover the dos and don’ts of conducting a RIF including traps to avoid and some common mistakes to look out for. This largely includes how to avoid social media nightmares during the notification process. It really does take an expert to guide management through newer issues like those related to social media and protecting the brand.

Conducting and smooth RIF also means taking care of the surviving employees. This can be a difficult time for them as well. It is vital that they are assured that their friends and co-workers are well taken care of and valued. That’s where outplacement comes in!

Attendees will also receive a manager checklist at the end of the webinar as a guide to help them with managing the next reduction in force.
